The Big Six-Oh

Mom (aka Grandma Irving) turned 60 on Monday. To celebrate, we had the first bbq of the year...and mmmmmm. Why is it that the first bbq is always the best. My goodness, those hamburgers and hot dogs were goooood. Along with the pasta salad, sliced veggies, and chips. We'll spend the rest of the spring and summer trying to get our hamburgers to taste THAT good again!

Carrie and I made Grandma's favorite cake....German chocolate. And we gave Grandma 3 jars. The first one had 60 kisses (hershey's cherry cordial kisses) in it, the second one had 60 hugs (in the form of 60 relaxing baths worth of lavendar bath salts) and the third had 60 reasons we love Grandma! All seven of us wrote several reasons we love grandma on individual scrap book papers.... they varied from "because she's my grandma" to "because she's old" and even "because she loves my mommy." It was fun...and it made her cry...which is always the goal with a gift like that!
