Oh help me Rhonda!

Let me see if I can possibly chronicle all the pets we've ever had....I'm not sure it's possible, but here I go.

  1. A maltese named Shorty....we couldn't potty train him so we sold him for much less than we paid for him.
  2. A pekignese named Missy....we couldn't potty train her either, so we gave her to my sister. She was a VERY beautiful dog...but apparently we can't potty train dogs. She was an expensive dog, too, but we gave her away for free because we loved her and wanted her to have a good home that we could visit.
  3. While we had Missy, we also had 2 bulldog puppies, whom we were going to breed, but they fought TERRIBLY with Missy, so one went to Ammon's sister, and the other went to a friend.
  4. Hamster
  5. Hamster
  6. Hamster
  7. After that (or in between) we've had 3 hamsters and a snake. The hamsters all died, and the snake got out of it's cage and we could never find it again.
  8. We decided we're not dog people. We like dogs, but we like small house dogs, and apparently small dogs can't be potty trained, or at least WE cannot potty train them. So we got our cat, Samantha. She's still with us! She's been with us since Christmas 2004.
  9. A couple of Easters ago, we got our first Bunny. It was a cute black fluffy little bunny, who just up and died in it's cage.
  10. We replaced that bunny with another bunny named Brown Sugar. It kept getting out of it's cage in the back yard, so eventually we gave up and let it run free. It went in and out of the backyard at it's leisure. But after several months of this, he never came back.
  11. We replaced that bunny with a white bunny named Sugar. We still have Sugar.
  12. Carrie's 4th grade class had Anole's for a few weeks, and then the students could adopt them. It's a lizard. It's basically a chamelion. Carrie and Ammon talked me into it by saying that it could live at Ammon's saltwater fish store, but so far, it's been here for several weeks. It got out of it's cage once and we couldn't find it for at least 5 days. Then all of a sudden, there she was...crawling across my office with no one home to catch her....except ME (ewe!!!) but I did it, and now she's got a better top on her cage. Her name is Isabella.
  13. A few days ago Ammon called and said he was on his way home with a suprise for the kids, so I was to tell them to be good (for what? the 5 minutes between the phone call and his arrival?) and that he'd be home with a suprise. It's a FERRET. Much to my dismay.....all of my arguments have failed.
  • It stinks. Nope, it's had it's glands removed.
  • It will pee and poop everywhere. Nope, it's got a cage.
  • It's ugly. Nope, it's growing on me and now I almost think it's cute.

I think I bonded with the Ferret when she had a near death experience. Rachael had the vacuum out and was cleaning up something off the floor. Central vac, no attachment, just the hose. The Ferret likes to run into tunnels, containers, etc. It ran into the vaccuum. Rae panicked and didn't think to shut it off. Carrie unplugged the hose from the wall. The Ferret was STUCK. We had to pry open the vaccuum hose to get her our. She had a cut on her head, blood was coming out of her nose, and her mouth was inside out. It was VERY upsetting for all of us and not just a few tears were shed. We babied her and took care of her all night, and she's fine. Seriously? I bonded with her? It's like a petting zoo around here!

So currently, we have FOUR pets.
Samantha

Sugar

Isabella

And Willie (we all call her "The Weasel" until Carrie names her for real. Willie was her name at her previous owners.

I know that last one is out of focus, but while I was photographing her in the toy drawer she came RIGHT up to the camera lens. Cute, right? She keeps doing cute stuff to make me like her more.
